The theorems are done in weeks. Building the human infrastructure to use them takes generations. That gap — between the math being solved and the people being trained to build with it — that's the domain matrix problem. That's what we're solving for.
THE HORROR · What High Ed Looks Like Right Now
🏛️ The Foundation Problem
  • Interdisciplinary domains get no faculty lines. Universities fund what departments exist. New domains that cut across spectral geometry + QFT + neuroscience get zero institutional budget until someone names them — which requires a department — which requires funding — which requires the domain to already exist institutionally. Circular trap.
  • PhD programs run 5-7 years. The field changes in months now. By the time a cohort is trained in a domain, the domain has already moved. Students graduate into a gap that no longer matches where the work went.
  • The people who could train the next generation don't exist yet. You can't hire a professor in antimatter geometric confinement because there are no professors in antimatter geometric confinement. The field just opened. There is no chair. There is no curriculum. There is no accreditation pathway.
  • High ed is structurally reactive, not anticipatory. It responds to industrial demand with a 10-15 year lag. New domains from γ₁-level work land faster than any university can respond. The gap isn't a bug — it's the system working exactly as designed.
  • The Deficit number is real. Researchers needed vs. researchers trained and available. In every one of the 17 domains from Rick's log — the delta is enormous. Most domains have zero dedicated PhD programs globally. Some have one or two researchers in the world working adjacent to the actual problem.
