The last surface where the universe was plasma. The fossil light. The event horizon of history.
What it is
Cosmic Microwave Background β photons released at recombination (380,000 years post-BB). Still streaming 13.8 billion years later, red-shifted to microwave frequencies (2.7K).
Recombination
Universe cooled to ~3,000K. Electrons combined with protons β neutral hydrogen. Photons suddenly free to travel. The universe went from opaque plasma fog to transparent in ~10,000 years.
What it tells us
CMB anisotropies (temperature variations of 1 part in 100,000) encode the entire early universe state. Density fluctuations that became galaxies are written in the CMB. The boundary radiation contains the full interior history.
EOSE parallel
Day 1 commit (2026-02-04, `eose-website`) = EOSE recombination. The loom-deploy branch = the CMB. Every TRB/ARB from that day = CMB anisotropy. The genesis record is our most fundamental audit layer.
The CMB is the holographic proof that the interior state is recoverable from the boundary.

What it is
Unknown particle(s) β gravitates (mass confirmed), no electromagnetic interaction (invisible), no strong force interaction. Detected only by its gravitational effect on visible matter.
What it does
Dark matter halos are the scaffolding of the universe β without them, galaxies wouldn't form. Baryonic matter (plasma) falls into the gravitational wells dark matter creates. Dark matter structures everything; plasma fills the structure.
EOSE parallel
Model weights are dark matter β 27% of the system. Gravitates (shapes all outputs). Not directly observable (you can't read the weights). Detected only by its effect on visible inference. Can't be removed without the structure collapsing.
Dark energy parallel
Compute substrate = dark energy β 68%. GPU/CPU power, electricity, time. The expansion force. You can't directly control it from inside the system. It drives the expansion of capability.
What you can observe (plasma/ordinary matter) is only 5% of what's there.
